More Reports About Roy's Lack of Integrity

Over the last couple of years, I have been made aware of several others that Roy has deceived and stolen from. However, for various reasons, they haven't wanted to publicly post but emailed me privately to let me know how Roy was dishonest with them and that I was not alone in being ripped off.

$10,000 and $2,300 Loans

5-13-00 in St. Louis, I loaned the singer, Roy Waugh $10,000 to buy a car. Roy signed a contract that he would pay me a minimum of 10% of the money he would receive from his concerts. Shortly after that, he asked to borrow $2,300 to move some recording equipment to my house. He said he had gotten a good deal on it and was going to set up a studio in my downstairs. The recording equipment deal fell through but my money was not returned. Then he moved to Albuquerque, NM and gave me no forwarding information. I have never received ANY payment though he has done numerous concerts and produced another cd. After emailing him several times and receiving NO RESPONSE, I finally turned the matter over to my lawyer today.

According to Scripture, the way to correct a person who has "offended" you is to talk to your brother. If he won't listen, take two or three witnesses. If he still won't listen, take it before the church. If he still refuses to listen, treat him as a pagan. (Matthew 18:15-17) And so, I begin the Scriptural steps.

...

After many attempts to contact Roy, he finally emailed me in October 2005. Over a few emails in October, Roy apologized and said he would pay me back the $10,000 but he didn't remember borrowing the extra $2,300. When I told him I had paperwork that I could fax to him, he said it was no longer necessary. He remembered. I offered him some work so he could begin to work off his debt. I asked him to contact me to work out a repayment schedule. I asked him to make some sort of good faith effort. I got no response. When I didn't hear anything from him from mid-October to December, I emailed him that unless he contacted me to make financial arrangements by January 15, 2006 I would take further steps. It is now 8:05 pm January 19, and still no word. I will send this blog to Roy and if I don't hear from him by January 25th, I will add "two or three witnesses" (Matthew 18:16), the second step in Biblical correction.
